5 daily health habits that matter most
Happy Sunday! Thanks for being here for my 14th issue of Perfecting Life.☀️
Regardless of which social media account you follow me on, you’ve probably heard me go on and on about these habits. In fact, I reckon I’ll be spending the rest of my life talking about them because I believe in how crucial they are for us to feel better and achieve more sustainably.
However, I’ve not reflected on the ‘why’ too much on Instagram or Twitter, so I wanted to do it here.
Here are the daily habits:
Drinking enough water.
Getting enough sleep.
Eating enough whole fruit and vegetables.
Dedicating time to physical activity.
Engaging in a mindful activity to help you reflect.
In theory, they’re very simple and in reality, difficult for people and companies to profit off you when you get them done. This might be why we’re marketing a whole bunch of other things to ‘stay healthy’.
Together, they definitely work to improve your mood and well-being. But there’s a little more.
A lot of the time, we engage in specific health habits because we intend to achieve a specific goal. This undeniably makes it much easier for us to stick to them.
But the thing about these 5 habits is that you don’t do it to achieve a goal. You do it because it’s the right thing to do. And that’s why these health habits matter.
When you make it a point to engage in these habits every single day, you announce to yourself and the people around you that you give a damn. You become the type of person that tries their best for their health and someone that keeps themselves at an optimal state to be there for the people they care about.
For this to work, we must try our best til the very end. We must believe that dedicating time and effort to our health, without obvious short-term gratification, pays off every single day.
And the moment we accept that we’re trying our best, we will live our days with minimal regrets about our mind, body and existence.
To help everyone start up this set of habits, I’ve been working on a 14-day habit checklist. It’s a work in progress but do check it out below and let me know what you think! Also, if you aren’t already, do follow me on my health Instagram here to stay updated as I improve the checklist over the next few months!
If you found this issue or any other from my series useful, I’d be grateful if you consider sharing it with a friend! And if you have any thoughts about this issue, do drop me an email to hello@arunjayaraj.com
